A FNR's Programme enabling Luxembourg national research institutions to draw and to recruit established and internationally recognised researchers from abroad in order to accelerate the development and strengthening of Luxembourg’s national research priorities.
Application deadline: October 18, 2016.

Launched in 2008, PEARL programme, one of the key instruments of the FNR’s strategy, has in the framework of the 2017 Call the following specificities:

  • Clarification on the level of the Strategic Merit Assessment (SMA) criteria. PEARL proposals will undergo two evaluation stages following the formal submission of the proposal by the Host Institution and the Candidate: the SMA and Assessment of Candidate and Research Programme by scientific panel.
  • Requirement for gender equality in proposal submissions.
  • Earmarking of one PEARL grant for a joint position between Luxembourg research institutions.

PEARL projects have a lifespan of five years with a financial contribution of between EUR 3-4 million by the FNR.

In the 2017 Call, the FNR expects to be able to fund up to 3 PEARL positions.

Applications have to be submitted by potential candidates in conjunction with their host institution through the online Grant Management System.

You will find all useful information (programme description, guidelines for applicants...) about PEARL on the FNR's website.

Furthermore, outstanding young researchers not yet established in Luxembourg should have a look at the FNR's ATTRACT Programme . Application deadline: December 8, 2016.
