Call for projects PROTEA : Franco-South African mobility program
The Partenariat Hubert Curien (PHC) - PROTEA 2023 - aims to develop scientific and technological exchanges of excellence between French and South African laboratories, by promoting new cooperation and the participation of young researchers and PhD candidates. The deadline for applications is May 30, 2022.

PROTEA is the Partenariat Hubert Curien (PHC) set up in France by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research (MESRI), and in the partner country by the National Research Foundation.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The call for applications is open to full researchers from research laboratories attached to higher education organizations and research institutions.
- For the French part of the exchange, companies can participate in the project, as long as they are associated with an academic partner.
- For the South African part of the exchange, companies are not eligible.
Only applications co-submitted by the partner researchers to the authorities responsible for the program in their respective countries are admissible.
The call for proposals is open to all scientific fields, including the humanities and social sciences.
Among the selection criteria: the integration of young researchers and PhD students in the project.
Mission and funding
- Funding is granted on an annual basis, for two consecutive years.
- Funding is applicable only to the mobility of the researchers involved in the program between the two countries.
- South Africa: Funding requested from the NRF should not exceed ZAR 300,000 split into two annual sums of ZAR 150,000. Funding is subject to the recipient's commitment to provide a scientific and financial report on the progress of the project in accordance with NRF rules;
- France: requests for funding from France should not exceed €20,000 over the entire program, or €10,000 annually.
