FBF supports scientific and scholarly exchanges and collaboration between the University of California at Berkeley and French research and higher education institutions in all disciplines.

Established in 1993 by the University of California at Berkeley and the French Ministère des Affaires Etrangères, the France-Berkeley Fund (FBF) is one of the programs housed by the Institute of European Studies (IES) at Berkeley. 

Since its foundation and through its annual grant, this program has awarded more than $ 900,000 to fund nearly 100 projects in all fields : Humanities, Social Sciences, Exact Sciences, Engineering…

On the FBF website, you have access to the information related to 2008 Call for Projects application.
Are considered projects jointly submitted by a tenured or tenure-track professor at UC Berckeley, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz or at the Laurence Berkeley Laboratory, and professor or researcher with a permanent affiliation with a French public research institution or institution of higher learning.
The Fund especially seeks to support projects involving younger scholars.
All projects will be funded to a maximum of US $ 10,000 per year. 
Application deadline: January 31, 2008 for 2008 projects.

Furthermore, the Fund administers the Berkeley-CNRS exchange of scholars in the humanities and social sciences. Application deadline : November 30th, 2007 for 2008 projects.
