RESUME DU PROJET

Le projet URATEXT (Uranium, Risques et Appropriation : Témoignages, EXpériences et Transmission) explore les enjeux de mémoire et de communication liés à l'exploitation passée des mines d'uranium à Bessines-sur-Gartempe. Dans un territoire marqué par son histoire industrielle, l'objectif est de développer une culture collective du risque, articulant discours institutionnels et récits sensibles, pour accompagner une transition vers une gestion patrimoniale et durable.

Ce projet s'inscrit dans une tension entre, d'une part, les messages officiels souvent centrés sur la maîtrise des risques et la valorisation territoriale, et, d'autre part, les récits citoyens, portés par des associations et habitants, exprimant préoccupations et vécus. URATEXT cherche à dépasser cette opposition en se positionnant comme une interface entre médiation scientifique et médiation citoyenne, légitimant ainsi la parole sensible comme un levier pour renforcer la confiance entre institutions, entreprises et populations. Cette approche contribue également à lutter localement contre la désinformation et les polarisations, en articulant savoirs techniques et expériences vécues dans une dynamique inclusive et constructive.

Au-delà des recherches, URATEXT contribue à la valorisation du patrimoine industriel et au développement d'une résilience territoriale. À travers des expositions, publications scientifiques et dispositifs numériques, le projet entend nourrir les débats sur la mémoire et les risques environnementaux invisibles, tout en renforçant la vigilance collective.

RÉSUMÉ DU PROJET DE THÈSE
Le projet de thèse vise à interroger la pertinence du narratif et du récit comme outils d'investigation scientifique et de médiation citoyenne, en mobilisant le cas des anciennes mines d'uranium du Limousin. Ces sites, témoins d'un héritage industriel complexe et porteurs de risques environnementaux invisibles, constituent un terrain d'étude privilégié pour explorer les tensions entre discours institutionnels et vécus citoyens, ainsi que leur intégration dans des dispositifs scénographiques innovants.

Le recours au narratif soulève des problématiques méthodologiques et épistémologiques majeures : comment articuler des récits sensibles et subjectifs avec des données scientifiques dans une visée de médiation ? Quels sont les enjeux de légitimation et de performativité associés aux récits mobilisés dans un contexte marqué par des risques environnementaux invisibles ? La performativité des récits, notamment leur capacité à transformer les perceptions et comportements des publics, est ici un enjeu central, tout comme leur rôle dans la construction d'une mémoire collective durable. En adoptant une approche interdisciplinaire, combinant pragmatique et sémiotique, cette thèse examine la capacité des approches narratives à produire une médiation efficace et durable, tout en confrontant les tensions entre subjectivité et objectivité.

PROJECT SUMMARY

The URATEXT (Uranium, Risks and Appropriation: Testimonies, Experiences and Transmission) project explores the memory and communication issues related to the past exploitation of uranium mines in Bessines-sur-Gartempe. In a region marked by its industrial history, the objective is to develop a collective risk culture, articulating institutional discourse and sensitive narratives, to support a transition towards sustainable heritage management.

This project responds to a tension between, on the one hand, official messages often focused on risk management and territorial development, and, on the other, citizen narratives, delivered by associations and residents, expressing concerns and experiences. URATEXT seeks to overcome this opposition by positioning itself as an interface between scientific and citizen mediation, thus legitimizing sensitive discourse as a lever for strengthening trust between institutions, businesses, and communities. This approach also contributes to combating disinformation and polarization locally by combining technical knowledge and lived experience in an inclusive and constructive manner.

Beyond research, URATEXT contributes to the promotion of industrial heritage and the development of territorial resilience. Through exhibitions, scientific publications, and digital tools, the project aims to fuel debates on memory and invisible environmental risks, while strengthening collective vigilance.

SUMMARY OF THE THESIS PROJECT
The thesis project aims to question the relevance of narrative and storytelling as tools for scientific investigation and citizen mediation, using the case of the former uranium mines in Limousin. These sites, witnesses to a complex industrial heritage and carriers of invisible environmental risks, constitute an ideal field of study for exploring the tensions between institutional discourses and citizen experiences, as well as their integration into innovative scenographic devices.

The use of narrative raises major methodological and epistemological issues: how to articulate sensitive and subjective narratives with scientific data for the purpose of mediation? What are the issues of legitimacy and performativity associated with narratives mobilized in a context marked by invisible environmental risks? The performativity of narratives, in particular their capacity to transform the perceptions and behaviors of audiences, is a central issue here, as is their role in the construction of a lasting collective memory. By adopting an interdisciplinary approach, combining pragmatics and semiotics, this thesis examines the capacity of narrative approaches to produce effective and lasting mediation, while confronting the tensions between subjectivity and objectivity.
