The Körber Foundation "Deutscher Studienpreis"

Three 30,000 euro prizes to crown theses on major societal issues. Application deadline: March 1, 2009.

The Körber Foundation in Germany each year awards its "Deutscher Studienpreis." A rather exceptional thesis prize considering the amount of the award: 30,000 euros for each of the three prizes.

Eligible for this prize are researchers in all disciplines who defended their thesis in 2008 with honors (Magna or Summa cum laude) on a topic concerning major societal issues. It is open to German students having defended their thesis in a German or foreign institution as well as foreigns who did their doctorate in a German university. There is no age limit.

Applicants should describe their research in a paper no longer than 6500 words by March 1, 2009, stressing the social impact of their findings.

The Hamburg-based Körber Foundation finances projects liable to involve ordinary citizens to get involved in shaping society.
