Switzerland offers two main types of doctorates: traditional PhDs within a single university and structured PhDs involving collaborations between institutions, notably between cantonal universities and universities of applied sciences PhD study in Switzerland – 2025.

B. SWISS GOVERNMENT EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS (FCS/ESKAS)
Description: Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to encourage international exchange and research cooperation with over 180 countriesSwiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2026 – 2027.
