The French Institute in Prague, the French Embassy in the Czech Republic and the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MSMT) are happy to announce the launch of the Barrande Fellowship Programme for 2026, the exchange mobility programme for Ph.D. students between the Czech Republic and France.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Barrande Fellowship Program offers scholarships to support “cotutelles” (double-degree PhD) and short-term research stays.

For a "cotutelle", the fellowship-holder undertakes a 5-month stay abroad every year for a maximum of 3 years and receives a monthly stipend in the amount of about 1,700 EUR / 40 000 CZK in France or 35,000 CZK in the Czech Republic.

For a short-term research stay in France or in the Czech Republic (between 1 and 3 months), the fellowship-holder receives a monthly stipend in the amount of about 1,704 EUR in France / 35,000 CZK in the Czech Republic.

All scientific fields are welcome. Applications in the fields of environmental sciences, energy, mathematics and information technologies are particularly welcome.
The programme is open to all English speakers on the condition that the French or Czech thesis supervisor from the foreign institution agrees with English as the language used during the stay.

EligibilitY

Be a holder of a higher education diploma (Ing., Mgr. or MgA.) before their first stay abroad;
Be registered at a Czech university, for a research stay in France, and at a French university, for a research stay in the Czech Republic.
