A study providing a global vision of Technology Transfer (TT) in five universities of Hong Kong.

The study "Valorisation de la recherche universitaire à Hong Kong : Mode de fonctionnement et possibilités d’ouverture vers la Chine du Sud" (only available in French) was published in April 2008 by the Consulat Général de France in Hong Kong & Macau (Author: John Seal –Inserm).

It describes the system of technology transfer, its operation way and its interaction with the socio-economic world.
It is specially based on interviews with those involved directly or indirectly in the universitary transfer of technology.
For example, interviews were conducted with three directors of two start-up issued from academic research – TeleEye Group and Perception Digital  - and the director of the HKU-Pasteur Research Center, a research center in the area of emerging infectious diseases created in 1998 by the University of Hong Kong (UHK) and the Institut Pasteur.

Among the study conclusions, we take note of cooperation opportunities with France which seem to be many, as for example the host of start-up in the HKKSTP (Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation) or the wish of PolyU (Hong Kong Polytechnic University), to set up a consortium of inter-institutional and inter-country for the development of technology.
