Support for international initiatives for research and innovation of the Quebec government

The Ministry for Economy, Science and Innovation (MESI) of Québec launches a new call for projects to support and promote international action of Quebec actors in the academic, institutional and industrial fields working in different research and innovation areas.
France is among the countries considered strategic by the Directorate of International Partnerships.

The Quebec government considers innovation as an important driver of economic growth. In order to remain part of the group of advanced societies, to radiate and to be open up to the world, Québec must ensure the participation to collaborative industrial research projects of its researchers and companies, that will create tomorrow's technologies. The government wishes thereby promoting industrial research international partnerships.

Outcomes aimed by the Support Programme for research, part 4: Support to international initiatives for research and innovation (PSR-SIIRI) are the following:
  1. Increase business-university research collaborations at an international, inter-sectoral and inter-orders, level.
  2. Increase the number of researchers able to achieve a competitive position in sectors with promising future for Quebec.
  3. Increase the visibility of Québec researchers and their research institutions nationally and internationally.
Projects must start in the financial year of the Government of Quebec (April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017). Duration is two years minimum and three years maximum.

Priority will be given to projects related to strategies, technologies or the following areas:
  1. Aerospace;
  2. Biotechnology and Bio-Food;
  3. Renewable energy, electric transportation and clean technologies;
  4. Advanced Materials and aluminum;
  5. Life sciences, medical technology and personalized healthcare;
  6. Information technology and communications and creative industries;
  7. Topics related to the "Plan Nord";
  8. Topics relating to maritime strategy.

Deadline for applications: July 22, 2016.
