The French Norwegian Foundation

Founded in 1983, this association includes representatives from industry and the French and Norwegian authorities and has for objective to foster cooperation between both countries regarding research (scientific and technical) and industrial development.

With the support of the Ministry of Industry and Research Council (please see our article dated May 17, 2010) in Norway and different Ministries (Foreign Affairs, Higher Education and Research, Industry ...) and organizations (ANR…) in France, the French Norwegian Foundation (FNS – Fransk Norsk Stiftelse or FFN - Fondation Franco-Norvégienne) aims to promote cooperation between both countries through the development of joint R & D projects. 

Among its main objectives:
· connect French and Norwegian industry partners;
· support directly or indirectly joint R & D projects ;
· promote exchanges of researchers (including post-docs) and eminent scientists.

Among research priorities :
· aquaculture and food industry ;
· biotechnology and biomedical industry ;
· informatics and information technology ;
· environmental technologies and energy ;
· marine science and technology ;
· material science and technology ;
· oil and gas exploration and production.

Although the R & D call for projects is open over the year, proposals should be addressed no later than January 1 for a decision at the Board of Directors in April and no later than August 1 for a decision at the Board of Directors in October.
The maximum level of funding from the Norwegian and French public institutions or programs (including FNS/FFN) cannot exceed 50% of the project cost and can be obtained for a maximum of 3 years.
