?Admiral Daveluy? Maritime Strategy award

First prize is 5000 euros and rewards a thesis in the field of maritime strategy. Application deadline: end September 2010.

The “Admiral Daveluy” Maritime Strategy award was established in 1994 by the Navy Chief of Staff. According to the Ministry of Defense, it aims “to encourage and promote historical, political, legal, technical and other research and thinking to advance the state of maritime knowledge.”

Nearly all profiles are eligible: from first-year Master’s students to active civilian or military researchers from all over Europe working in a wide variety of disciplines (engineering, history, law, insurance, geopolitics, etc.).

The following prizes are offered:
- 5,000 euros for the best PhD thesis;
- 2,000 euros for the best Master’s thesis;
- 2,000 euros for a special jury mention* for a PhD or Master’s thesis.

Research selected will be published in the Bulletin d’Etudes de la Marine, and in partner journals if appropriate.

NB: the research presented must have been defended less than two years prior to the competition. Presentation deadline for the 2010 edition: end September 2010, for prizes to be awarded in December.
