IRCSET?s funding supports

The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology operates multi-million euro research funding initiatives which support young researchers in their early stage career formation across Master, Doctoral and Postdoctoral level.

IRCSET’s (Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology) initiatives are funded by the National Development Plan of Ireland under the auspices of the Department of Education and Science.

If you are looking for a PhD funding, the EMBARK initiative offers scholarships for a total of around €72,000.00 for a duration of 36 months.
Calls for application are held twice a year (January and June), but in 2010 there will be no second call in June.

Regarding postdoctoral scheme, you have at your disposal two types of fellowships : 
- INSPIRE which offers IRCSET/Marie Curie co-funded awards to candidates who propose to pursue their work for 24 months at a research laboratory in any country of their choice worldwide, followed by a 12 month reintegration period at an Irish research laboratory,
- EMPOWER for candidates who propose to pursue their work for 24 months at an Irish research laboratory.
Applications for both programmes are accepted each year via one call in Winter.

If you want to gain additional beneficial experience and insight into the commercial arena while completing your research, the Enterprise Partnership Scheme is for you. 
This programme is opened to candidates worldwide who can be awarded a three year PhD scholarship or a two year Postdoc. Fellowship.
