SAAFE: French-Australian grants for research internships in nuclear science and engineering

Programme
Since 2017, the SAAFE program has facilitated the conduct of research and fostered research collaborations between France and Australia, in nuclear science and engineering, in the research areas of Human Health, Environment, and the Nuclear Fuel Cycle.
The SAAFE program supports Early Career Researchers at PhD and postdoctoral levels to travel from Australia to France – and from France to Australia – to initiate sustainable research networks and linkages.
The scholarship can be utilized within a 12 month-period from the 1st July 2020.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must be:
- A PhD student currently enrolled in a French university or Australian AINSE-member university; OR
- Enrolled in a PhD in collaboration between French and Australian institutions; OR
- Hold a postdoctoral appointment at a French university or Australian AINSE-member university.
In addition, eligible applicants must be carrying out a research project using nuclear science techniques that will stimulate research collaborations between France and Australia in the areas of Human Health Research, Environmental Research, or Nuclear Fuel Cycle Research.

Your application must contain the following documents:
- The application form
- A transcript of your academic record
- Your Curriculum Vitae including a list of journal articles and conference contributions and relevant work or volunteer experience
- A confirmation letter of discussions and agreement on a project from the contact scientist at the proposed host institution
- Invitation letter from host institution
- A reference from your research supervisor and written approval to undertake the internship
