Employeur

The Department for BioMedical Research (DBMR) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern was established in 1994 by the University of Bern and the Inselspital (Bern University Hospital). The DBMR is divided in 13 Research Programs with about 100 participating individual labs and several Independent Research Labs whose research spans across all biomedical fields. To realize its mission to bridge the gap between bench and bedside, the DBMR promotes an integrative perspective to clinical research with a strong emphasis in the development of translational approaches, the use of omics and other cutting-edge technologies, and extensive interaction and collaboration between laboratory-based and patient-oriented clinical research. The DBMR is also committed to fostering the careers of young academics.

Poste et missions

Are you passionate about making a difference in global health? Do you have a background in biomedical research? We, the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University Hospital Bern, Switzerland, are seeking a motivated and talented Post-Doc to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of acute and chronic kidney disease.

Chronic kidney disease affects approximately one-tenth of the world's population, often without noticeable symptoms until later stages. Our research focuses on tackling this silent epidemic through three key areas:

  • Early Detection and Treatment: We aim to identify methods for rapidly detecting acute kidney disease and implementing effective interventions to halt its progression. Your role will involve exploring novel diagnostic tools and innovative treatment strategies.
  • Prevention of Chronicity: We are pioneering approaches to prevent the transition from acute to chronic kidney disease, or at least delay it significantly. This includes among others investigating the protective effects of specific proteins on renal cells.
  • Understanding Risk Factors: Our research also delves into the reasons why individuals born prematurely or with low birth weight are at higher risk of hypertension, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease later in life.
