École des Ponts ParisTech is an institution of higher education and research in the field of science, engineering and economics. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition (MTES) and with an EPSCP status (Public Scientific, Cultural and Professional Establishment), its missions concern research, training and continuing education, the dissemination of knowledge, and the transfer to economic sectors and support for business creation. Its activities are national and international.

Poste et missions

The research at École des Ponts ParisTech is characterized by a balanced effort in the following scientific activites:

  • Outstanding academic research, evaluated at the highest level by the HCERES (highest council for research), with 5 ERC, more than 1000 publications of rank A per year, a hundred Ph.D. theses supported per year,
  • Partnership research with companies, public entities and local authorities.

École des Ponts ParisTech, in accordance with its strategic plan, develop a long-term research activity in the field of Machine Learning and Computer Vision. In its 2019 recruiting campaign, it opens two permanent researcher positions, one in the applied mathematics laboratory CERMICS and the other in the Imagine team at the LIGM computer lab. These positions are the subject of separate, yet complementary, descriptive worksheets.


École des Ponts ParisTech is one of the top 5 selective French « Grandes Écoles ». It trains engineers, with solid background in mathematics, at a high level of scientific, technical and general competences. The successful applicant will join the IMAGINE team, a renowned research group in computer vision and machine learning, with seminal results in 3D reconstruction from images, scene understanding, deep learning, optimization, sparsity, etc. IMAGINE is part of the Laboratoire d’informatique Gaspard-Monge (LIGM), a top-ranked computer science lab.

The Imagine team currently includes 4 permanent researchers and a dozen of PhD students. It has strong ties with both academic (e.g. INRIA, UC Berkeley) and industrial partners (e.g. FAIR, Adobe). The successful candidates will have to develop, in collaboration with the researchers of Imagine, innovative research programs, with a strong academic component as well as research partnerships with industrial or service companies.

Mobilité géographique :



Candidates at all level of seniority will be considered. They should have:

  • The ability to lead and sustain a highly visible research activity meeting the highest international standards,
  • An excellent record of publications in computer vision/robotics/machine learning/deep learning (e.g. CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NIPS, ICML, ICLR, SIGGRAPH, ICRA, IROS),
  • Some expertise in area related or complementary to the lab topics (e.g. robotics, video analysis or reinforcement learning),
  • A teaching experience and the will to participate to the education of ENPC students (lectures, projects, mentoring…).

The appointee will be involved in the development and organization of the master track on Statistics and Data Sciences within the Master of Applied Mathematics of École des Ponts, in collaboration with one or several of its current partners (École Polytechnique, ENS Saclay, Sorbonne Université, University Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée...). She/he will also be strongly encouraged to participate to the organization and teaching of Statistics and Data Science for engineering students (L3 or M1) and for master students (M2).
