Enseignement et recherche

The Cochin Institute (www.institutcochin.fr) is a Research Center (INSERM, CNRS, University of Paris) composed of 700 people and located in the heart of Paris at campus of the Cochin Hospital. Ten core facilities provide the scientists of the Institute with the most efficient technological support. Our team (http://cochin.inserm.fr/Departements/emc/equipe-jockers) belongs to the department of "Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes". We are interested in the investigation of the involvement of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) in metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes and the link between metabolic diseases and Alzheimer disease. We are employing cutting-edge biochemical, pharmacological, endocrinological and proteomic approaches to understand the function of these receptors and evaluate their therapeutic potential by developing innovative Resonance Energy Transfer techniques complemented by knock-out and knock-in mouse models.

We are an international team composed of about 15 members. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join our activities on mitochondrial GPCRs (Gbahou et al. Br J Pharmacol, 2017; Suofu et al. PNAS, 2017).

Poste et missions

Develop and perform in vitro cell-based BRET/complementation assays to characterize mitochondrial GPCRs

Develop and perform cellular experiments to understand the intracellular trafficking of mitochondrial GPCRs

Closely collaborate with our partner labs specialized in mitochondrial biology

Independently plan, execute, troubleshoot and interpret experiments aiming at the discovery of the function of mitochondrial GPCRs

Supervise a research technician and prepare external research collaborations

Clearly analyze and communicate scientific findings in written and verbal form

Mobilité géographique :

For this position, you qualify with a PhD in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Cell Biology or related disciplines preferentially with a previous post-doc experience outside of France.

• You have a solid background in biochemistry, molecular pharmacology, cell biology and cell signaling

• Specific knowledge on GPCRs or mitochondrial biology would be an advantage.

• Basic cell culture, animal handling and molecular biology techniques are required

• Natural curiosity for innovation

• You have a strong publication record

• You have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively

• Fluency in oral and written English
