The webinar « What careers are available at the interface between science and society after a PhD in the Social Sciences and Humanities? » had a simple ambition: to broaden horizons by showcasing a variety of professional paths that are concrete, inspiring and grounded in real experience.

We hope it fulfilled its promise and helped, at least in part, to enrich your reflections on your professional future.

However, no webinar can provide a ready-made toolkit for life after the PhD. Professional careers are built progressively, at the intersection of personal aspirations, opportunities and encounters.

Depending on where you currently stand in your project, two situations may apply:

• if you are still in an exploration phase, continue your investigations and multiply opportunities to exchange with professionals;
• if your project is already more mature, start confronting it with reality, identify opportunities and develop your network.

In both cases, networking remains one of the most effective levers available to you.

Professional transitions are rarely achieved alone. Speaking with professionals helps you better understand jobs, organizations and expected skills, while also discovering opportunities that are never advertised on job boards. This is what is commonly referred to as the hidden job market, and experts estimate that 70% to 80% of opportunities are found there.
