R&D activity development of PepsiCo and Cisco in Ireland

Both companies decided to invest several million of euros in research with for the first one, the opening of a new center in Cork for next generation beverages and for the second one, the expansion of its Galway center with 115 new R&D jobs.Established in Ireland since 1974, PepsiCo, the second largest food and beverage business in the world, opened in February of this year, its new R&D Centre for next generation products in Little Island, near Cork.
Representing an investment of €10 million, this new center employs a team of 18 people, all with PhD, MSc and Bachelor Degrees in Food Science, Chemistry and Engineering.
Furthermore, the company employs today more than 600 people in Ireland across a diverse range of business activities (manufacturing, finance...).
Cisco, the world’s largest supplier of networking products, will develop its R&D activities in Ireland with the expansion of its research center in Galway - originally opened in 2007 - which represents an investment of
€ 26 million over two years and the creation of 115 new R&D jobs.
The activity will focus on new business areas such as the communication and collaboration software technology including enterprise and cloud enabled desktop, mobile applications, desktop virtualisation and real-time web communications.
This initiative is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland, the government agency responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland.
