The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS)
Clarisse Faria-Fortecoëf
The only national organization in the United States that is dedicated solely to the advancement of graduate education and research. The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) is a national clearinghouse for information and research on graduate programs which aims at developing higher education through advocacy, research, innovation and dissemination of best practices.
Currently, CGS membership includes over 500 universities in the United States and Canada, and 14 universities outside North America. Collectively, CGS institutions annually award more than 94 percent of all U.S. doctorates.
In the "Programs & Awards" section, you will find information about the "PhD Completion…" which is a seven-year project (2004-2010), grant-funded by Pfizer Inc and Ford Foundation, and that addresses the issues surrounding Ph.D. completion and attrition. See also the project website.
CGS also provides links to the websites of the organisations/institutions that offer fellowships and/or financial aids.
Furthermore, you can check out reports and findings produced by CGS and resulting from its research on trends in international student graduate applications, admissions, enrollment and on global trends affecting North American universities.
