International Volunteer Opportunities for research scientists
Fabrice Martin, translation by Cynthia Schoch
Are you a doctoral student or recent PhD under 28 years of age? International Volunteer Opportunities can help you conduct a research project abroad. For this sort of volunteer work, which involves assignments ranging from 6 to 24 months, the host organization must be either a foreign state or state-approved university laboratory or research institute, or an international research organization France is a member of.
Funding can either be provided by the host organization and/or a French company. If no French company is taking part in the project, the Foreign Affairs Ministry pays for the volunteer’s social coverage. Furthermore, the volunteer period in any event counts toward retirement in the French system
You’ll find all the useful information you need on civiweb.com, the international volunteer website. Applications, of course, as well as opportunities available, helpful websites, statistics, fact sheets on companies that have already taken volunteers, etc.
