An administrative and independent research institution under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.The Japanese foundation Riken has for mission to conduct work from basic research to practical application.
Excluding humanities and social sciences, Riken’s activity covers a wide range of fields including physics, chemistry, medical science, biology, and engineering.
On the institution’s website, "Career opportunities" section, you can check out the 2010 Call for Applications for Foreign Postdoctoral Researchers (FPR).
The FPR program gives the opportunity to promising young researchers to pursue innovative research at RIKEN under the direction of a RIKEN laboratory head.
Base salary is quite interesting as it amounts to 487,000 yen per month (about €3,600).
