8% rise of doctoral studentships

The Ministry of Higher Education and Research has decided an 8% rise of doctoral studentships: from October 1st 2007, 12,000 PhD students will be paid €1,650 gross per month instead of €1,530 today.

Attention, this rise does not go without compensations. For instance, the contract's annual renewal, which used to be almost automatic, will have to be formally approved from now on.
