Launched in 1998, the PRTLI is a key component of the Irish Government's strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation.
It has represented an investment of €865 million to date into research infrastructures.
1,000 scientists and 2,000 PhD students got a financial support and 83 projects were supported: 28 in biosciences and medicine, 14 in information technology, 17 in humanities and social sciences, 9 in physics / chemistry.

The new cycle of the programme – PRTLI Cycle 5 - will run over five years, from 2009 to 2013, with a budget of €300 million.
On the web site of the HEA (Higher Education Authority) - the funding agency - you can find relevant information and documentation including call for proposals.
Are expected for example, proposals to reshape PhD programmes.
