Employer

Two post-doctoral positions are available starting from 1st of July in the ChemSyBio laboratory at Université Paris-Saclay, INRAE (Micalis Institute). We are seeking for highly motivated post-doctoral fellows with a proven experience in biochemistry or/and structural biology.

The successful candidates will join a dynamic and inter-disciplinary team headed by Dr Olivier Berteau & Dr Alhosna Benjdia, to investigate a novel superfamily of metallo-enzymes. These enzymes catalyze a wide range of chemically challenging reactions, some of which having no counterpart in synthetic chemistry and play a central role in major biosynthetic pathways including cofactor, vitamins and antibiotics biosynthesis. The proposed project aims at gaining a deeper understanding of the unique mechanisms of these emerging biocatalysts but also to develop unprecedented catalytic approaches.

Position and assignments

The post-doctoral researches will study novel enzymes using either biochemical, bio-physical and/or structural biology approaches. Access to state-of-the-art research facilities will be provided. The post-doctoral researchers will benefit from a collaborative, international and multi-disciplinary scientific environment that values innovation and creativity. These projects will be performed in the vibrant scientific environment of Université Paris-Sacaly (www.universite-paris-saclay.fr), one of the world’s leading university with unique access to major research infrastructures.

Profile

The candidates should hold a PhD in Biochemistry, Enzymology, Structural biology or related fields. Experience in molecular biology, protein purification, enzyme kinetics or protein crystallization will be an asset. Skills in physico-chemical techniques (e.g. HPLC, mass spectrometry) will be also beneficial.

The position is offered for a renewable one year period with a salary commensurate to professional experience.
