Topic description
The project aims to develop and validate an innovative nacre-based bone graft material, from fundamental characterization to clinical-grade preclinical validation. The doctoral candidate will be fully integrated into the industrial and academic teams, contributing to each stage of the project: material development, biological validation, and compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The majority of the PhD program will be performed within the company.
Key Responsibilities
• Characterize nacre and its derivatives using physical, chemical, and mechanical analyses (microscopy, spectroscopy, compression testing, etc.).
• Develop and optimize nacre processing methods (mechanical, chemical, thermal), alone or in combination with other biomaterials.• Formulate and test injectable materials (e.g., putties or pastes) tailored to dental and craniofacial applications and investigate the potential of nacre within technologies such as 3D printing.
• Conduct in vitro and in vivo evaluations (biocompatibility, osteoinduction, resorption) in collaboration with external research partners.
• Participate in regulatory documentation, following the company's internal QMS (Quality Management System).
• Engage in scientific communication, write research articles, and present findings at national and international conferences.

MegaBioPharma is an innovative company developing next-generation medical devices for tissue regeneration. We harness the unique properties of nacre, a natural composite material, to design advanced solutions for dental, orthopeadic and would healing. Our approach combines rigorous scientific research, integrated quality systems, and strong academic and clinical partnerships. As part of our R&D expansion, we are offering a CIFRE-funded PhD position incollaboration with SAINBIOSE Laboratory (Inserm U1059 – University Jean Monnet, Saint-Étienne), a recognized expert in bone regeneration.
