Topic description

Introduction: Oxide perovskites, due to their unique crystal structure and remarkable electronic properties, are attracting increasing interest in the field of materials science. This research project aims to explore new properties of these materials when reduced by a metallic capping, a technique that could modify their performance and be used in various

applications, particularly in the fields of energy and electronics.

Objectives: The main objective of this project is to study how reduction by metallic capping influences the physical and chemical properties of oxide perovskites. This work will include structural and morphological analysis, electrical conductivity, as well as magnetic properties.

Methodology: To achieve these objectives, we will use a multidisciplinary approach combining material synthesis, characterization by X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, and electrical and magnetic measurements. Specific oxide perovskites will be synthesized, followed by the application of a metallic layer through physical vapor deposition (PVD). The samples will then be subjected to tests to evaluate their performance.

Expected Results: We anticipate that this project will reveal unprecedented properties of oxide perovskites with metallic capping, paving the way for innovative applications in energy storage, solar cells, and electronic devices.

Conclusion: In summary, this research project aims to expand knowledge about oxide perovskites and explore their potential when combined with metallic cappings. The results could have a significant impact on the development of new technologies in various industrial fields.

CNRS - Laboratoire CRISMAT

The laboratory is related to the Chemistry and Physics Institutes of the CNRS. Its vocation is to contribute to technological innovation in the field of energy and technology of information and communication, by combining high fundamental and applicative research.

The laboratory is internationally recognized for its capacity to discover new materials (oxides, intermetallics, hybrids) with remarkable properties such as superconductivity, colossal magneto-resistance and thermoelectricity obtained such as powder, single crystals, ceramics, or thin films.

The conception of these new materials is based on a multiscale approach going from the atom to the macroscopic scale and relies on the use of advanced physical techniques for the characterisation of their properties (electronic, thermal, magnetic).

The laboratory works with numerous national companies (Murata, SAFT, Airbus, Depestele, SKF) and foreign academic partners (IIT Madras, NTSingapur, NiMS Tsukuba…).
