Employer

The Cancer Drug Research Laboratory is located at the new McGill University Health Center at the Glen site in Montreal. It trains students and post-doctoral fellows on novel strategies to improve the potency of anti-cancer drugs against refractory tumours.

Position and assignments

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral fellowship in medicinal chemistry in the Cancer Drug Research Laboratory, Center for Translation Biology, McGill University Health Center. The successful candidate will be involved in the synthesis of heterocycles designed to block signal transduction mediated by receptor tyrosine kinases and to characterize their metabolites. Some knowledge in molecular modeling/computaitonal chemistry is an asset.

According to McGill University Post-Graduate policies, eligible post-doctoral candidates must be within 5 years of their Ph.D. degree

Geographic mobility:

International

Starting date

2025-08-12

Profile

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in organic or medicinal chemistry. Some knowledge of cancer biology is an asset.

Goals

The project focuses on developing molecules as potential drugs against gliobastoma multiforme. We study the mechanism of action of the drug candidates and ultimately study their antitumour effect in vivo in xenograft models. Within the first year we expect the candidate not only to synthesize new drugs but also learn about the biology of glioblastoma.
