Description

Temporary contract | 24 months | Hautscharage Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us

How will you contribute?

You have experience in surface treatment and interface engineering? You already worked with thin coatings deposition and adhesion promotion?

Then we have a new opening for you! The Structural Composites (SC) Unit at LIST is looking for a passionate post-doctoral fellow for a 24-months contract.

The postdoctoral activity will focus on the structure-adhesion relationships of the interfacial region in ultrathin material assemblies utilized in electronics (printed circuit board). The challenge of this research is to both develop thin coatings deposition and identify their physico-chemical structure at the interfacial region, requiring the use of complementary cutting-edge characterization techniques (transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), x-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS)...). Based on the gathered knowledge, assemblies with new interfacial functionalities will be developed and tested.

This position is in the frame of an industrial collaboration with Circuit Foil Luxembourg, a high-quality electrodeposited copper foils manufacturer. By combining fundamental and applied approaches, we intend to develop advanced materials highly demanded for the development of advanced electronics.

You will be mainly in charge of:

  • Developing surface preparation methods and thin coating deposition methods
  • Characterize thin coatings
  • Manufacture ultra-thin materials assembly and characterize their interface
  • Understand structure-adhesion relationships from characterization data
