Topic description
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team investigating the role of GPCR-associated signaling pathways in physiology and tissue regeneration ( https://www.iribhm.org/research-labs/ghopat-23kc9).
The project aims to characterize a regulatory system modulating intestinal cell differentiation and repair, using complementary experimental approaches:
- In vivo studies with transgenic mouse models
 - In vitro systems based on intestinal organoids
 
The candidate will work within a dynamic and collaborative group with long-standing expertise in GPCR signaling, integrated in an interdisciplinary research institute hosting over 120 researchers working at the interface of molecular biology, physiology, and regenerative medicine.

Presentation of host institution and host laboratory
The experimental work will be carried out within the GHoPat research group (GPCRs in Homeostasis and Pathology) at the IRIBHM (https://www.iribhm.org/research-labs/ghopat-23kc9). The host laboratory specializes in chemokine receptor signaling in immune responses and provides a strong technical foundation for the proposed project. The work will be conducted within the collaborative GHoPat environment, in close interaction with Prof. Garcia’s team, whose expertise in intestinal development, regeneration, and organoid models will provide valuable complementary support. Established protocols within GHoPat will ensure a robust and efficient start to the project.
The project will be conducted at the IRIBHM Jacques E. Dumont (https://www.iribhm.org), a renowned research institute within ULB's Faculty of Medicine, comprising approximately 120 researchers and technical staff. The institute offers state-of-the-art infrastructure essential for the successful execution of this project, including mass spectrometry platforms, HPLC systems, a transgenic mouse core facility, advanced cell culture facilities, cryostats, microtomes, vibratomes, PCR machines, luminometers, and fluorimeters. Researchers also have access to ULB's centralized core facilities, including the Flow Cytometry Core Facility, the Bio-Imaging Facility (http://limif.ulb.ac.be) with confocal and two-photon microscopy, and the High-Throughput Genomics Core Facility (http://www.brightcore.be).
