Employer organisation

Description

This Master 2 project is in the framework of a ANR/DFG project that aims at adapting an existing portable NMR system to the detection of PFAS via 19F NMR. The recruited master student will be expected to work on one of these two topics :

Topic 1 - Adaptation of the existing NMR set-up and baseline measurements

The first project focuses on adapting the existing device for 19F NMR, including modifications of the probe and excitation/receiving electronics to match the required frequency band and bandwidth. This stage may also involve a redesign of the magnet as well as the design of an ASIC for the analog front-end. Beforehand, the recruited student will make some acquisition of various PFAS solutions with a benchtop NMR to gain in understanding of the specific characteristics of 19F NME spectroscopy

Topic 2 - Design of an integrated magnetic camera

The second research project consist of the design and the simulation of an integrated magnetic camera based on 1D Horizontal Hall Devices (HHD) on standard technology. Such a camera is essential in term in Wa2MoS project in order to get a very accurate map of the magnetic field in the volume of interest for volume optimization purpose. The design and the simulation will be performed with Cadence.

Profile

We are looking for student with a master in electrical engineering, microelectronics or instrumentation.

The official kick-off of the project is in April 2026 so the PhD may start from April 1st 2026. However, we can also imagine to host the candidate to complete a Master Thesis before the beginning of the PhD
