Multi-functional molecular precursors for 3D-printing

Topic description

Designing high-performance active materials always smaller is an on-going task in various domains such as electronics or catalysis with the goal of lowering prices and weight, and to facilitate their integration into devices. This not only involves the control of the physical and mechanical properties of the materials but also that of their shape and size.

This interdisciplinary project proposes to engineer multi-functional molecules able to act as precursors for the additive manufacturing of architectures by 3D photo-printing. The specific molecular design will lead to the formulation of photoresins of simple composition with increased stability. The characterization of the materials and architectures will be done by combining techniques such as electronic microscopy, Raman, FT-IR and luminescence spectroscopies. These techniques are entirely available on site.

This project will give the PhD student skills in synthesis and a broad knowledge in materials characterization.
