The Ambassadeur program

The French Ministry of the Armed Forces awards 2 postdoctoral fellowships every year as part of its "Ambassador" program.

The aim of the program is to finance a 12-month stay abroad for a postdoctorate engaged in a research project on security and defence issues. The call is open to all fields of human and social sciences (geography, economics, political science, law, etc...).

The programme is scientifically monitored by the Institut de Recherche Stratégique de l'École Militaire (IRSEM).

This funding is part of the Higher Education Pact plan and aims to contribute to regenerating the pool of university research in the fields of defence and security.

Any French or EU PhD holder, who has successfully defended his or her thesis in a French university (with or without co-supervision, French or foreign) or in a foreign university with French co-supervision, during the five years preceding their application, can apply.

Download the application form [in French - Word format].

Applications are due on or before April 21, 2023.

Please note that :

- you must check the feasibility of your departure with your French laboratory and your host research centre abroad before submitting your application.
- you must also ensure, before applying to this program, that your university meets the conditions for signing the funding agreement.
