Aurora : Franco-Norwegian program to support researchers' mobility

The Partenariat Hubert Curien (PHC) - Aurora 2026 - aims to develop scientific and technological exchanges of excellence between French and Norwegian laboratories, by encouraging the participation of young researchers (PhD candidates and post-doctoral fellows). All scientific fields are eligible for this program, including the humanities and social sciences. The deadline for applications is September 24, 2025.

Aurora is the Partenariat Hubert Curien (PHC) set up in France by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI), and in Norway by The Research Council of Norway.

Terms and conditions

  • The call for applications is open to full researchers from research laboratories attached to higher education organizations and research institutions;
  • The participation of young researchers and PhD candidates is strongly encouraged.
  • Companies can participate in the project, as long as they are associated with an academic partner;
  • The programme supports research projects proposed jointly by a French and Norwegian team with emphasis on programmes establishing new cooperation;
  • Only applications submitted jointly by partner researchers to the program authorities in their respective countries will be considered valid..
  • All scientific fields are concerned.

Mission and funding

  • Funding is granted on an annual basis, for two consecutive years;
  • The funds granted by France (for information, in 2025 the annual funding granted per project to French participants was €4,000) cover the stay (€180/day) and travel (reimbursement of actual expenses up to a limit of €600 per return trip between France and Norway) for French researchers.
