Established in September 1988, Teagasc is an organisation which develops bilateral agreements with research organisations in Europe, USA and New Zealand in a prioritary sector in Ireland: the Biotechnology.

Also, it collaborates extensively with Irish universities and offers postgraduate and postdoctoral opportunities. For example, the Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme aims, to further develop and enhance the science and technology skills and knowledge of high quality early career scientists – Irish and foreigners - and to strengthen the organisation’s scientific base.
For a maximum of two years, the fellowship amounts to approximately €33,000 per annum.

Teagasc employs over 1,500 staff at more than 100 locations throughout Ireland.
