Topic description

The feeling that “everything is moving too fast” is one of the clichés of our time and applies in particular to technological change and recent developments in generative AI for the general public. How, then, can we harness these “pervasive” technologies to shape our future (Boullier, 2016)? And, more specifically, how can we help future citizens develop reflexive and critical skills regarding the effects of these technologies on our lives in order to promote their digital empowerment? These questions form the basis of the research I wish to carry out. It aims to explore and build an audiovisual corpus of science fiction on artificial intelligence in order to develop mediation tools and, ultimately, educate people about digital citizenship. More than just a technical object, AI now functions as a cultural object imbued with narratives, images, values, and collective projections. It is these representations that my project seeks to examine. Without claiming to settle technical, ideological, or ethical debates about AI, the goal is to shed light on them by using audiovisual fiction as a tool for critical questioning.
