Topic description
This PhD project focuses on the design and development of high-performance, flexible supercapacitors using renewable and recycled materials, addressing both energy and environmental challenges. The research will explore the synthesis of polymer gel electrolytes derived from renewable biopolymers, such as starch, chitosan, or lignin, offering sustainable alternatives to conventional synthetic electrolytes. Simultaneously, the project will develop electrode materials based on cellulose and other bio-derived or recycled carbon sources, engineered for enhanced conductivity, surface area, and mechanical flexibility. Emphasis will be placed on optimizing the electrochemical performance, mechanical stability, and scalability of the devices for potential integration into wearable electronics and sustainable energy systems. This interdisciplinary project combines green chemistry, materials science, and electrochemical engineering to advance next-generation energy storage solutions.
