Franco-Cambodian Call for Projects: Tonlé Sap Programme 2026

The Hubert Curien Partnership (HCP) Tonlé Sap opens new prospects for scientific cooperation between France and Cambodia. This mobility and academic exchange scheme is part of a dynamic effort to strengthen scientific ties between both countries. An annual opportunity not to be missed. Application deadline: 29/12/2025

Calls for applications are launched annually, offering French and Cambodian research teams the opportunity to build sustainable collaborations and enrich their projects through high-quality international exchanges. The HCP Tonlé Sap aims to stimulate scientific and technological excellence by encouraging exchanges between French and Cambodian laboratories. This programme prioritises the emergence of new collaborations and places particular emphasis on the involvement of young researchers and doctoral candidates.
Terms and conditions
All scientific disciplines are eligible. However, three thematic areas are of shared priority interest for both countries:
- Digital technology and economy
- Contemporary and emerging climate challenges
- Innovative pedagogy
- Researchers affiliated with laboratories of higher education institutions
- Researchers from public research organisations
- Companies, subject to partnership with an academic partner
- Projects that have already received HCP Tonlé Sap funding cannot apply immediately after completion
- New collaborations are prioritised
Mandatory requirement: applications must be co-submitted simultaneously by French and Cambodian partners to their respective national authorities. The interim report and financial statement must be sent before 30 November of the first year to the French Embassy (see programme contact details below).
Mission and funding

The maximum amount for a project is €10,000 per year: €5,000 from France and €5,000 from Cambodia.
The funds allocated by France exclusively cover the payment of daily allowances and travel expenses for members of the French team:
- Daily allowances: €125/day for researchers and €60/day for doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers
- Travel: reimbursement of actual expenses up to €1,500 per round trip
The funds allocated by Cambodia exclusively cover the payment of daily allowances and travel expenses for members of the Cambodian team:
- Daily allowances: maximum USD 230/day for a maximum of 10 days, or USD 2,300 per month
- Travel: reimbursement of actual expenses up to €1,500 per round trip
