Call for projects Tournesol 2022: Franco-Belgian program for international mobility

Tournesol 2022’s objective is to develop scientific and technological exchanges of excellence between research laboratories and public institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels region and France in the field of fundamental research. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2021.

Tournesol is the Hubert Curien Partnership (PHC) set up by Wallonie-Bruxelles International, in partnership with the F.R.S.-F.N.R.S. and for France, by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in liaison with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.


Tournesol 2022 develops scientific and technological cooperation between higher education and research establishments and public institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels region and France in the field of fundamental research.

The projects take place over two years. Each dossier will be submitted to an expert in science. Below are their assessment criteria, in addition to co-deposit:

  • the scientific quality of the project (originality of the themes, clarity of objectives, methodology),
  • the correspondence of the project with the internal policy of fundamental and applied research,
  • the interest in cooperation (complementarity of teams, transfer of skills, training through research),
  • the credibility and effectiveness of the partnership.

The call for projects is open to all areas of fundamental and strategic research.

Mission and funding

  • Missions are for a short duration of 1 to 2 weeks per year and per project.
  • The means granted are only for transportation and living expenses of researchers between the two countries.
The final deadline for application is March 31, 2021.


Projects will begin as of January 1, 2022. A report, a final account, and a statement of claim to the Grant Order will be required by March 31, 2023 at the latest.
