About us
A major technological revolution is underway in biotechnology, accelerating medicine like never before.
Microfluidics is one of its cornerstones.
Our mission is to accelerate the biotech revolution as fast as we can, in every way we can, through microfluidics.
Our company
The Microfluidics Innovation Center was founded by three researcher-entrepreneurs in 2011 as a business unit of the Elvesys group. We run collaborative research to build deeptech companies in Europe.
We develop microfluidic prototypes within European consortia to solve researchers’ problems. In parallel, we test market appetite for these prototypes and turn them into products. Once the business model is set and the funding plan validated, we license the technology or spin off a new deeptech company.
We’ve already created 10 innovative companies that today make up the Microfluidic Valley. In short, we’re both an industrial research lab and a startup incubator.
In 2023, we chose to become independent so we could fully tap our innovative and entrepreneurial potential. And to protect our freedom to innovate and carry out our missions on our own terms, we decided to take on no investors and stay a tribe.
Our culture
No routine here: our job is to leave the beaten path. We’re doers! We always look to innovate in a way no one else would. We have oceans to cross to fulfil our mission, and we stay together to weather the storms!

Poste et missions
You join MIC’s Research & Innovation (R&I) team. R&I develops advanced microfluidic technologies to maximise their impact across highly varied fields: cell biology, soil remediation, water treatment, materials science… We work within collaborative research projects with the best European labs, with one goal: building microfluidic solutions that fit the market and the consortia.
The role mixes PCB design (and firmware development) with lab work alongside our microfluidics team. You also take part in the design, build, testing and iteration of fluidic instruments and platforms, integrating sensors, pumps or controllers to meet the expectations of our partners and the market. You drive the developments tied to electronics and embedded systems, adapting existing technologies to the specifics of microfluidics. The role is ideal for someone with solid foundations in electronics and/or embedded systems, hungry for mechanical integration, fluidics and applied research.
Whether you have experience or not is not what matters most to us. What matters is your mindset, your curiosity, your positive energy and your ability to learn!
Here’s your role:
- You drive the electronics development of our instruments and platforms: analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, PCB and firmware development
- With the rest of the R&I team, you deliver prototypes to our partners and clients, and you iterate on new versions from their feedback
- You engage directly with leading scientists across Europe on exciting collaborative research projects
- You understand and combine the needs of the market and of our academic partners to maximise the impact of our innovations
- You stay constantly tuned in to research needs to help us steer our work

Profil
Your profile:
- You hold a Master’s in mechatronics, electrical engineering or equivalent
- You master software development, electronics, automation and instrumentation. More precisely:
- You have experience in the design, assembly, soldering and troubleshooting of PCBs
- You are comfortable with programming (ideally C/C++)
- You have already developed on a 32-bit microcontroller from a well-known family (STM32, Microchip…)
- You know communication protocols (UART, I2C…)
- You have a grasp of RTOS basics (multithreading, signals, mutexes…)
- You pair rigour with autonomy
- You keep an open mind and you take on the challenges outside your comfort zone
- You have a good level of English: most exchanges with colleagues and partners happen in English
- A first experience in mechatronics (internship, student society or personal project), along with hands-on use of collaborative development platforms (GitHub), are a plus
- You're skilled at prompt engineering and AI tools to go further, faster, right by our side
➔ At MIC, we like: people of action, creatives, the autonomous, the curious, people demanding with themselves but who take care of those around them. Those who act more than they talk, those who want an intense life, full of contrasts. Those who bring croissants!
