Description
Internship contract | Belval | 6 Months
Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us
How will you contribute?
Plasma technology enables decentralised chemical transformations using only electrical energy. Therefore, plasma reactors can be deployed in a modular fashion to treat low-value streams from several industrial processes and convert them into commodity chemicals (Waste-to-X route). This approach prevents waste generation, while supporting sustainable manufacturing through consumption of renewable power.
This internship focuses on the conversion of a biogas mixture (CH4+CO2) into value-added chemicals via a catalytic plasma process.
The student will:
- Study the dry reforming of methane (DRM) process in gas-phase plasma processing
- Assess the performance of different catalysts in the DRM process by estimating product selectivity and throughput
- Perform analytical measurements of the gas stream and characterisation of the catalyst particles
- Estimate the energy efficiency of the process based on the dissipated plasma power
This project will contribute to ongoing research on plasma catalysis for sustainable chemical manufacturing.
An internship report written in English will be required at the end of the training period.
