Description du sujet
We are inviting applications for a Master’s or PhD student position at the Faculty of Medicine, Laval University, in Quebec City, Canada. Interested postdoctoral fellows are also encouraged to contact us. The selected candidate(s) will join the team of Dr. Aurelie de Rus Jacquet .
The project:
The Master’s or PhD project will focus on understanding multicellular communication at the blood-brain barrier in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease. The objective is to identify new targets and innovative therapeutic approaches to slow or halt disease progression. Methodological approaches include cell culture, immunofluorescence, microscopy, biochemistry, and cell biology.

Our research:
Our team specializes in the study of Parkinson's disease in order to describe the molecular mechanisms regulating disease progression. Dr. de Rus Jacquet studies the role of glial cells in disease pathogenesis and the mechanisms by which they regulate cellular interactions at the blood-brain barrier. We use induced pluripotent stem cell-based models and microfluidic technologies to study cellular interactions and describe the mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease (www.derusjacquetlab.com).
We are located in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. We thrive to offer an inclusive workplace where each team member can grow and explore their scientific creativity. We welcome applications from all interested candidates and greatly encourage those from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. The work languages are English and French. Laval University is a French-speaking University (https://www.ulaval.ca/). Québec City is a UNESCO world heritage destination and offers a rich student experience in one of the most beautiful cities in Canada (https://www.quebec-cite.com/en ).
