Description du sujet

The link between climate change and the incidence of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as the acute impact of heat waves on the exacerbation of these chronic conditions remain insufficiently documented.
The overall aim of the project is to investigate the impact of high temperatures (and heat waves in a
sensitivity analysis) on the health and healthcare use of patients with Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, Lewy body dementia, or other assimilated forms of dementia (with a consideration of emergency department visits, hospitalizations, healthcare consumption, and mortality), compared to a control group.
This thesis work is funded by the Thematic Coordination Program of Inserm. It will be conducted in
collaboration between IPLESP‐Inserm in Paris and ISGlobal in Barcelona. The main supervisor is Basile Chaix, the co‐supervisor is Joan Ballester Claramunt, and Giovanna Fancello, as a junior scientist, will also be involved in the coordination team.
