Description du sujet

POSITION

You are passionate about neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation? You are interested in preclinical approaches? Join the Team of Severine Boillee at the ICM/PBI and participate in medical research in the field of neuroscience. We work on mechanisms that influence motor neuron degeneration and disease progression in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We showed, in ALS mouse models, that immune cells participate to disease progression. The mechanisms related to the interactions between immune cells and motor neurons leading to neurodegeneration are still poorly understood. The goal of this thesis project is to modulate the immune system together with its infiltration in the central nervous system (CNS) in ALS mouse models and to analyze the interactions between immune and neuronal cells and the impact on ALS disease progression.

MAIN MISSIONS

- Optimize the treatment protocol,

- Analyze disease progression in mouse models of ALS undergoing immunomodulatory treatments,

- Study the contribution of immune cells in the CNS and at the periphery,

- Study the interactions between immune cells and motor neurons.

Brain & Spine Institute (ICM)

The Paris Brain Institute (PBI) is a private foundation recognized as being of public utility, whose purpose is fundamental and clinical research on the nervous system. On the same site, 800 researchers, engineers and physicians (from Inserm, CNRS, APHP, Sorbonne University, ICM/PBI) cover all the disciplines of neurology, with the aim of accelerating discoveries on brain function, and the development of treatments for neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.
